What people are saying about The Communicator™ mask.
Great for Operating Rooms
These have been great to use in the operating room. Being hearing impaired myself, I find it easier to communicate with the doctors when they are using The Communicator Mask. We also see hearing impaired patients for surgery so by having the surgical team wearing The Communicator Mask, patients feel more comfortable about what is being said.

Au.D.Ideal for Teaching Deaf Medical Students
In my 38 years of interpreting, I have not only been with deaf medical students but also with deaf patients in situations where a traditional face mask was mandatory. Because Sign Language relies so much on facial expression, only about 30% of the message could be conveyed and countless opportunities for miscommunication occurred when my face was covered. A clear mask will be invaluable in situations like these.

The Sign Language CompanyBetter Patient Care
As RT, I work with all ranges of patients in trauma or no trauma. Kids to Eldery, they all get nervous going into hospitals. Wearing these masks help patients open up to me more, and allows me to give them the best patient care possible because they can see my mouth and my expressions so that improves patient/medical cooperation. Best way to not have repeats in radiology is communication and preplanning. The masks definitely help without this, as well protecting you from pathogens in the ER. When working in the ER, you have to assume that everyone is infected, which is another big benefit of protection as well communication. My coworkers are not deaf or HoH and I catch them using it. They said they get better rapport from patients and were able to help with smoother workflow. It benefits everyone, not just people like me with profound hearing loss.

RT (R)(ARRT)Helps Maintain A Healthy Workflow
Going into pain management and OR cases while manipulating the C-arm in such a small space. Communication is critical, so I wear it as well as my interpreters and it helps maintain a healthy workflow with my peers because when they see it, they want to try it out. It would be excellent for almost all around PMR cases as well OR cases. I also carry a couple with me in my pocket when I talk to ER cases as well. I also have one in my travel bag when I travel via airports. Every time I fly, I usually get sick on the way back so I use it to help minimize that probability of getting sick.
